Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival 2015
The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival — will attract thousands to Simply Beautiful Saint Lucia. Cultural enthusiasts, festival lovers and music aficionados will be wooed by over 50 world-acclaimed entertainers and artisans over the 11-day festival, which runs from April 30 to May 10, 2015.

Or . . . the St Lucia Golf and Country Club is situated in Cap Estate which is to the north of Gros Islet. From there, you have a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This is the only 18-hole golf course on the island. It is a par 71, 6815 yards golf course and was built to host championship matches yet still inviting enough for the recreational golfers. There are many golf championship matches that have been hosted here.  Play with the map!

On this island 95% of the people speak Creole French even though English is the official language. Surprise! Listen closely on your way to the unique drive-in volcano (only one in the world). Visitors come here all the time to find out about this much talked about drive-in volcano. The islands of the eastern Caribbean are linked via a volcanic arc, but the St Lucia volcano is different because the water has therapeutic qualities. You will find people who go to bath there in order to remove blemishes on their skin. The volcano is located in Soufriere. The people of Soufriere pride themselves on having the only drive in volcano in the world right at their door steps. In fact, there are people living within the perimeter of the craters.  Jazz, Creole French, diamond waterfall, Soufriere volcano, botanical gardens, duty free shopping are all brought to you with delight!

One of the waterfalls that has grown to be the most popular of them all is the diamond waterfall. You can’t bath under this waterfall but there are warm water mineral pools where you can enjoy a shower. The water is said to have age defying qualities to make even the aged look and feel young again. Once you’re in the water there is no telling what time you are going to get out. It is so tempting; you may end up staying the whole day. The water is always warm coming from the foot of the Sulphur Springs (drive-in volcano) which is by the way the only one of its kind in the world. It is located in the picturesque town of Soufriere.

St Lucia also has some pirate history. . .

In the early 1700s, the famous pirate, Blackbeard was making his way up the Caribbean, plundering ships as he went. The waters off St. Lucia were particularly lucrative for the master pirate, and it is believed he used to stash his stolen booty in the Black Bay section of Vieux Fort. We have spent entire afternoons walking this town in search of some of Blackbeard’s treasure.

Come be a Pirate for the day! We set sail (not a cruise ship) from the Rodney Bay Marina down to Soufriere. In Soufriere, we visit The Pitons, Volcano, Diamond Waterfall, and Botanical Gardens. While on the boat, everyone is a Pirate and may have to walk the plank! Come sail the west coast with us, aboard a Replica Pirate Ship, Liana’s Ransom. Visit Soufriere and the famous Pitons as well as a tour of the Diamond Waterfall, Botanical Gardens, and the Volcano. Then head back aboard the ship for a tasty buffet lunch, before heading back out to the sea to the swim stop destination. Children have the opportunity to get their face painted and get dressed up as a “Pirate” for the day (sword, eye patch and bandana can be purchased aboard the ship). Have fun seeking the treasure aboard the Liana’s Ransom. Guests have the ability to learn to fire our four black-powder cannons, swing from the yardarm, and walk the plank if desired! This is definitely an exciting day for the whole family!!!

This is Fran again, and here's more about this unique island . . .  You'll find duty-free shops at most of the major shopping centers, including the Marina Village in Marigot Bay, J.Q. Charles Shopping Mall (near Rodney Bay), La Place Carenage Shopping Centre in Castries, and the Pointe Seraphine Shopping Complex near the cruise port.
