The West Coast is always protected from the prevailing easterly trade winds and is ideal for those with poor sea legs. The fishing season in Barbados runs from December to April when all the main species such as Wahoo, Dorado, White and Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellow and Black fin Tuna are available. The Marlin pass the island in September/October when there is a small run of these fish but if you are seriously after Marlin, the best months are February, March and April. Some Wahoo, Barracuda, Dolphin, Marlin and Sailfish are in our waters all year. The Tuna are usually caught in the winter months. It is our policy to tag and release all billfish, but we will kill an occasional fish that is considered to have a very poor chance of survival. Most tropical species of shark are also available year round.
